Driving Safely in Summer

FREE COMMUNITY WEBINAR đźš—
To be held.

📅 Saturday 27 July
🕙 10:00am
⏱ Duration: 1 hour

Summer is the season when many of us travel further afield to visit family and friends, enjoy a day out, or take a well-earned holiday.

For many drivers, these journeys involve unfamiliar roads, busy tourist areas, motorways, roadworks and higher traffic volumes. They may also mean driving for longer periods than we are used to during the rest of the year.

At the same time, warmer summer weather can create its own challenges, including driver fatigue, dehydration, and sunlight glare.

In this practical and supportive webinar, we will share advice to help you prepare, travel safely and confidently, and arrive relaxed.

Topics include:

✅ Preparing yourself and your vehicle for longer summer journeys
✅ Planning safer and less stressful routes
✅ Driving safely on motorways
✅ Managing fatigue, concentration and hydration
✅ Using sat nav and journey planning technology effectively
✅ What to do if you breakdown

New Opportunity: Travel Training Project – Inclusion Gloucestershire

Inclusion Gloucestershire is launching an exciting new project to support disabled adults (18+) across the county in gaining the skills, knowledge, and confidence to travel independently or with support.

They are inviting referrals from individuals who could benefit from:

· 1:1 Travel Training – Personalised, practical support to learn specific journeys with a travel trainer who will accompany the person on public transport until they are confident to travel alone.

· Companion Journeys – Support people who don’t think they want to travel independently but could travel with the support of a companion to appointments, events, or social outings (travel support only).

· Workshops – Group sessions (8+ people) offering practical travel skills and confidence-building.

· Paid Travel Trainer Roles – A fantastic opportunity for disabled individuals who already travel confidently to support others and earn as they train.

This project is open to Gloucestershire residents aged 18+ who identify as disabled or experience barriers due to a long-term health condition.

For more information, referrals, or to put an application in to become a trainer, please see their website: https://www.inclusiongloucestershire.co.uk/travel-training-project/

If you would like us to attend any events, meetings or speak to potential referrals/applicants, please get in touch with thier Coordinator oliviae@inclusion-glos.org
