Age UK Gloucestershire shop

Age UK Gloucestershire shop

There are Age UK charity shops in many towns around the country, including one in Northgate Street here in Gloucester. However, the shop at 124 Barton Street, opposite Bartongate Surgery, is a little bit special. That’s because it is run by Age UK Gloucestershire and all the money raised through selling goods in the shop is used to help older people in Gloucestershire.

We would like to thank the residents in Barton and Tredworth for making us welcome and for their custom and donations.  As well as recycling opportunities, it is our aim to offer local people work experience and volunteering opportunities. Please call in to the shop or phone 01452 422660 to find out more.

If you have not already visited, the shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4.30pm. Bring us your unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, books, toys, CDs, DVDs, videos, and general household items. And bag yourself a bargain when you visit –

Tuesday is Community Discount Day. Just show proof of address to receive your 10% discount on our already brilliant prices!

Also we have introduced a customer loyalty scheme, please ask management or staff for further information.

Hope to see you soon.

Tea and Tell

OVER THE PAST MONTHS THE STROUD DISTRICT OLDER PERSONS’ FORUM HAS BEEN HOLDING A SERIES OF ‘TEA AND TELL’ SESSIONS TO ENABLE OLDER PEOPLE TO TALK ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES OF AGEING – THE JOYS AND BENEFITS,  AS WELL AS THE PROBLEMS AND ISSUES THEY FACE ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS.

TO DATE, WE HAVE HELD 10 SESSIONS AND MET 100 OLDER PEOPLE. WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE AGEING JOURNEY FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS; HEARD OF SOME INTERESTING EXPERIENCES AND INCREASED OUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRACTICAL ISSUES FACING MANY OLDER PEOPLE.

THE NEXT ‘TEA AND TELL’ SESSION WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY 26th JULY AT THE RICHMOND PAINSWICK VILLAGE FROM 2:30 pm UNTIL 4:30 pm. RESIDENTS FROM PAINSWICK AND THE SURROUNDING DISTRICT ARE INVITED TO ATTEND AND ENJOY A FREE TEA (OR COFFEE) AND CAKES.  WE WOULD BE DELIGHTED IF YOU COULD JOIN US.

WE ARE GRATEFUL TO THE STAFF AND RESIDENTS OF THE RICHMOND PAINSWICK VILLAGE FOR ALLOWING US TO USE THEIR FACILITIES.

TO BOOK A PLACE, OR TO OBTAIN FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THIS AND OTHER SESSIONS BEING ORGANISED BY THE STROUD DISTRICT OLDER PERSONS’ FORUM, PLEASE TELEPHONE JIM ROLLINSON ON 01452 830752 OR E-MAIL GOPA4672@HOTMAIL.CO.UK.
